Postions Currently Available at GMS:

 

Service Manager

Applicants for Service manager must be able to preform all the duties of a mechanic in addition to the following 

The fun stuff:

  • Politely & professionally listen to customer concerns and help find solutions
  • Have intimate awareness of the service department in order to direct flow and scheduling of work.
  • Authorize discounts, returns, warranties, and other service related transactions
  • Determine layout and merchandising for service department & service writing area
  • Create a positive environment in your department by being fair and promoting & displaying a positive attitude.
  • Schedule and adjust staffing level to match customer demand
  • Prioritize and assign daily tasks
  • Manage tool and supply inventory
  • Work with mechanics to identify new opportunities for education of products 
  • Participate in store management meetings
  • Encourage ideas for improvement from service staff

The not-so fun stuff:

  • Have management experience with at least 5 reporting employees
  • Drive sales of labor and service parts to meet goals
  • Give feedback via periodic formal reviews
  • Resolve conflict among staff members
  • Be a resource for policies, procedures, and product 
  • Hold staff meetings as necessary
  • Create, implement and evaluate quality control systems for the service department
  • Participate in store management meetings
  • Hire and fire staff
  • Teach and coach staff so they understand their positions and duties
