Service Manager

Applicants for Service manager must be able to preform all the duties of a mechanic in addition to the following 

The fun stuff:

  • Politely & professionally listen to customer concerns and help find solutions
  • Have intimate awareness of the service department in order to direct flow and scheduling of work.
  • Authorize discounts, returns, warranties, and other service related transactions
  • Determine layout and merchandising for service department & service writing area
  • Create a positive environment in your department by being fair and promoting & displaying a positive attitude.
  • Schedule and adjust staffing level to match customer demand
  • Prioritize and assign daily tasks
  • Manage tool and supply inventory
  • Work with mechainics to identify new opportunities for education of products 
  • Participate in store management meetings
  • Encourage ideas for improvement from service staff

The not-so fun stuff:

  • Have management experiece with at least 5 reporting employees
  • Drive sales of labor and service parts to meet goals
  • Give feedback via periodic formal reviews
  • Resolve conflict among staff members
  • Be a resource for policies, procedures, and product 
  • Hold staff meetings as necessary
  • Create, implement and evaluate quality control systems for the service department
  • Participate in store management meetings
  • Hire and fire staff
  • Teach and coach staff so they understand their positions and duties

Full Time Bike Mechanic

Full-time positions available in high-volume service department

Applicants must possess these skills and qualities and be willing to:

  • Minimum 5 years experience as bicycle mechanic - no on the job training here!
  • Mechanics are responsible for custom bicycle builds and the assembly of new bikes for sales floor.
  • Must be very well-versed in the wide range of components, suspension, braking and other systems that will be encountered in a diverse back shop.
  • Dynamic personality, positive attitude, professionalism and most importantly desire to provide customers with the best service!
  • Must be able to work weekends.
  • Above all other skills you must value organization and communicate well!

Mechanics will likely service Shimano Di2 and department store bikes from the neighborhood kids in a days work. Willingness and readiness to work on both is crucial to your success.

Applicants who are qualified for Full-Time positions will be able to perform the following - NO EXCEPTIONS!

  • Overhaul F&R susension overhauls.
  • Bleed brake systems from Avid, Hayes, Shimano, Magura, Tektro, & Hope.
  • Install, tune, adjust, and program electric shifting systems.
  • Overhual hubs and freehub bodies from all popular wheel manufacturers.
  • Mount and glue tubular tires.
  • Confident wheel building, as well as spoke replacement, truing, dishing, & tensioning of wheels.
